AC O-Ring replace

Have leak at O-Rings, I believe the 'dryer', in engine compartment, passenger side, near firewall. Question is, I have those plastic gadgets to seperate the line, but do not know how they work, rookie AC question, but stumped here.

There might be a square-shaped retainer on the line. Pull that off first. Slide the tool over the line and just press it into the fitting. Check out this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7nWAL_tNKc You may struggle getting it apart like that guy did. Just keep working at it and it'll eventually come off.

Thank you for your reply.....the things I have are plastic and Circular of different sizes. I suppose they slide up into the flange same as the tool in the video.

just remember to make sure you get all the pressure out of the system before you try to disconnect it.

might as well take it to the shop to get discharged and recharged when you're done.

if you're going to disconnect the line with pressure still in there you should be wearing thick rubber gloves to prevent frost burns. not that you're supposed to do that anyway

you can't recharge the system without vacuuming the air out

Thanks to all for help. Appreciate your advice, and I do Not believe there is any gas left, as the clutch wont even engage, but I shall take caution.
