Hey All, bought my son a 2000 Ford Ranger for his first vehicle. So far, he loves the truck. My only complaint is, when you turn on the AC, the air coming out of the vents really stinks. It kinda smells like mold. Any ideas on how to fix this or get rid of the smell?

Thanks,

Crusty

Did you try to replace the air filter? Maybe take apart dash and check vents? That's just basic stuff, all I know lol...

My heat is so hot I could melt mold haha.

It's probably because there is mold. If you look down past the heater box there is a little drain on the outside of the firewall. Run a coat hanger up through it and try to clear the dirt out. Once the water stops running out get some vent freshener and follow the directions on the can.

Parts stores sell cleaners you can spray into the air intake (the AC intake, not the engine intake) and/or spray directly on the evaporator that will clear up mold and odors. Remove the blower motor to spray directly on the evaporator.
