ok, my ABS light came on and my Spedo acts a fool in park but works while driving, the light turns off while im just coasting or cruzin, but when i hit the gas it comes back on.

it never came on before, but my battery went dead this morning at work ( battery has a crack in it, so it happens all the time lol) but usally i just clean the cables and im good to go, but this time its just dead, so i jumped it and on the way home, noticed the light come on. any advice? i need some quick have to drive about 80miles to go to school tonight.

I may be immature and tired...because when I first saw the post the only two words that jumped out were abs...and i thought like...abdominal muscles...and spedo...and i thought speedo swimsuit...and i was going to be like...dude...this is a mostly male dominated forum no one wants to see guys in speedo's lol. But then my weird brain kicked into gear and I read the rest...to me it sounds like an electrical gremlin and not an actual malfunction.

the rear wheel speed sensor probably may have metal filings on it. It is on top of the rear diff, and held in with one 8 or 10 mm bolt, would check that first.

i kind of had the same problem the other day except i didnt flash i started driving to work which is only 2 miles from my house as soon as i got to work i shut it off and started it back up again and it was gone

i fix the battery before i drove 80 miles, and worry about the abs light later.

If its the 02' Ranger, then check the abs sensor in the diff. It could have metal filing on it or it could be going bad. I had similar problem but the r-abs would activate on normal braking and then the light would come on.

If its the 88' Ranger, check your power distrabuation box (main fuse box) that leads from the battery. Could be a loose connection. My dad's Buick had this problem. It would be enough juice to run the engine but just enough to flip out the abs and brake system.
