ABS vs non-ABS Rotor Interchange

I have a '95 Ranger with RWABS (2WD). Will front rotors from a 4WABS truck fit (assuming it's 2WD and same year)?

I'm guessing the spindle and caliper is the same with either truck, so it should be a direct swap? I'll just have the vanes on the back of the rotor for the non-existant ABS sensor?

TTB ABS with the "Tone ring" on the rotors must have the sheet-metal "cup" behin the "Spindle" removed.

IF your truck was actually fitted with the metal cup.

The idea was another layer of protection to keep mud from getting behind the
rotors, the problem was that they did a much better job of keeping mud/dirt/rocks
back there after they got in anyway...


For practical purposes 1995-97 WITHOUT ABS are kinda rare.

Trying to buy a drivers side brake hose for a 1995-96 isn't easy as most parts books deny that Ford Made Non-ABS trucks in 1995-96, so you have to ask for a brake hose for a 1997 to avoid the typical "stupid look" from the parts counterman.

My '97 has rear ABS but not up front. Yet I still have that silly ABS "tone ring" on my front rotors. Its presence is irrelevant. So I'll bet it would fit.

Um, just because you only have RABS doesn't mean that the ABS module doesn't need to know how fast all 4 wheels are going. How do you think it tells lockup apart from being stopped?

There are no ABS sensors on my front axle. Nothing. So what's the thing behind the rotor for? It's just irrelevant.

I replaced my 1995 ABS rotors with none ABS rotors (on accident, but kept them) the only problem is that the ABS light comes on after the truck shifts gears. No other problems to report.
