My credo
If it ain't broke, I can't fix it.
I'm putting a 5.0 from a 99 Explorer 4x4 into my 00 Ranger 4x2. The Explorer has 4 wheel ABS, the Ranger 2 wheel ABS. I really don't care whether or not I have 4 wheel ABS or rear disc from the Explorer, as I'd rather make this as easy as possible. Obviously, the front end brake exciter and sensors are unlikely to be the same between a 4WD and 2WD. Any suggestions?

Leave the rear abs alone, it will work fine. Unless you want to do a major motor swap, and an ABs project.

Actually, I don't even want to screw with the ABS. My concern is that without the sensors and exciters up front, the Explorer PCM will have a problem with the fact that it doesn't see ABS up front which will likely cause me problems with codes, right?

What does it use for a controller?

4WABS uses the 4WABS Module (Ranger or Explorer)
95~00 Ranger w/RABS uses the RABS Module

There should be no worries with either the speedometer or the ABS in your 2000. 99~00 V6 Ranger is the best and easiest Ranger to accept a 99~01 Explorer 5.0 swap. It is as close to plug and play as you can get.
