I have a 97 Ranger with a Dana 28 and 7.5 axles. I have a set of 1994 Ranger Dana 35 and 8.8 axles I want to install. The 1997 Ranger has ABS, the '94 axles do not. Will this be a problem? Thanks

your 97 cant have a d28. it already has a d35 in it.

the d35 pig should bolt right in. the abs sensors are out at the wheels, not in the diff. the rear abs system is the same between 97 and 94.

My 97 front has the smooth case, no fins, that makes it a 28. I checked the tad also.

My 94 axle is non-ABS, my 97 Truck has ABS. Just don't want surprises when I do the swap.

are you saying that the 94 axle doesnt have a rear abs sensor? if so then just there is no problem with it. just leave the abs sensor off and zip tie the wire out of the way.

where did you read that the smooth case indicates that its a d28? i can guarantee you that it is is a d35.

I checked on this a few months ago. I'll double check and get the tag #'s also. Get back to you soon.

Well you can leave your existing beams.. but you'll have to swap the pig and inner shafts.

What gear ratio do you have now, and what ratio are the axles you want to put in?

The axle I'm putting in has 3:73 gears and I'm swapping in 4:88's. Ya, I'll use the old beams.

Yeah, swap just the D35 pig & inner shafts and you'll retain all your ABS stuff.

ALL '94 8.8s have ABS sensors as well, so there's no issues there either.
