Exactly one month ago I installed new calipers, rotors and pads on my 96 Ranger. I decided that I should also change out the bearings but they were not available at the time I was working on the truck so when they came in I decided to do it. So, 2 days ago I replaced both inner and outer wheel bearings on both sides of the vehicle. I then test drove it and it sounded great, the truck was so much quieter and all of the brakes worked fine. The truck then sat for a day and when I went to drive it, i got about a half a mile down the road and the abs light came on, but still everything seemed to be functioning correctly. THis morning i started it up, no light on. got about a half mile down the road and on it came. Anyone have any ideas or thoughts as to what this might be? Thanks for the help!

does the truck have 4 wheel ABS or just rear ABS?

you probably have a gummed-up speed sensor somewhere. if its just RABS, then its the only sensor in the rear diff.

ABS Light Problem

The truck is 4 wheel abs, but luckily I was able to figure out the problem. On the drivers side the rotor worked itself loose due to the washer/spacer that goes between the 2 lock nuts sheering off the steel pin that holds it from reversing thread. I hope that makes sense. Thanks for the help anyways!

i know exactly what your talking about, its a pretty common occurance :icon_thumby:

glad you figured it out.
