ABS light on

yeah right!!??
whats with everyone and thier ABS lights on here!!?
well i found out that my driverside caliper was seized up so i replaced it today...ABS light still on.....changed the fluid....still on.....disconnected battery overnight thinking it would reset....still on.....cleaned the speed sensors best i could without taking the rotor off (i dont have the locknut socket yet)....still on....i did my rear brakes about two months ago, ya think my rear adjusters are screwed up like dennis461 said???

and yes its 4WABS sorry for not answering that.

went to ford today to have them put it on thier computer (95 friggin dollars)
and come to find out it is a "main relay circuit output failure" they said they need to further testing but they need something called a breakout box with an 80 pin adapter to fit my truck, and because my truck is older they dont have it. they said it could be a wiring issue or they computer that cntrols the ABS.
i dont know...i cant wait to get to the bottom of this.:lame:

It may sound entirely too simple but if your BOO switch isn't working the PCM doesn't know your brakes are working and turns on the light, can also cause rough idle.Boo switch is also wired to brake lights so if they aren't functioning properly the ABS light will come on,especially if they are both burned out.

BOO=Brake on off right??

where is it located(95 Ranger XLT w/4WABS)
and if the BOO switch is'nt working then my brakelights would'nt work then right??
it does rough idle but only cold...

It's mounted on the brake pedal, check it for battery voltage to the switch, continuity to the brake lights.Just a long shot,my light was on and that was the culprit. Oh for the pre computer days, hook a a vac meter and a dwell meter and away ya go.

With Rwabs there is also a brake fluid level switch that will turn on the light if fluid is low.

Not the ABS light, just the red "brake" light that illuminates when you push the e-brake.

On RWabs if the brake fluid is low the the abs module is disabled and the abs light will light.

Have you experienced this personally?

I've ran the master bone dry due to a leaking wheel cylinder....the abs light never came on, only the brake light. Either way, its not his problem...

Old thread, I got that...but
I've got a 1996 ABS computer for sale (bought one but it wasn't my problem)
