I have a problem with my abs sensors in the front, basically it seems that the breaks wont let me stop its all the way i took the tire break cal anf rotor off at lunch just to see whats up that all checked out. my biggest question is how hard is it to clean the abs sensor inside there ?/

The sensor itself is inside the hub itself. 1 bolt holds it into the hub, be carefull when you go to pull it out as they can break off in the hub if you are not carefull. You can try cleaning it, but it is usually a problem with the exciter ring itself inside the hub which is not serviceable and requires you to replace the entire hub assembly.

It is getting me pi@sed

okay i may try to clean them but probally wont replace the hub until there is a better reason. Its really getting me p#$sed the ABS engages in dry pavement when I am almost at a complect stop and I just keep crawling forward I had to ram it into rev before I hit a car in a parking lot this is dangerous!!! if the cleaning doesnt work can I just unplug the sensors at the front bumper? and will the ABS stopp working??

You can just pull the fuse for the ABS system as well in the meantime.

On a 2000, you'll lose speedo/odo and Cruise if you pull the fuse (plus rear proportioning). I suggest you unplug a front sensor instead until you can figure out which side is bad and replace that sensor.

thats a good Idea ill try dside first there is no ABS light on at all I dont understand that why can that be Im sure there will be when i unplug the sensor but not now ?

HEY I'm having the SAME problem....and my ABS light is off and it says it SHOULD be working...but I almost ran someone over in a parking lot...I have a 2000 ranger and when I tried to pull the fuse, the brakes work ok, but the speedometer and everything quits working....so what do you mean by unplugging the front sensor...unbolt it from the hub, pull it out of the hub and leave it???....and im not sure why the ABS light isnt on....it's making me worry something is wrong OTHER than the sensor....b/c if it's dirty or broken the light SHOULD be on...right?? i dont know im not a mechanic...but it seems like it should be. hey it would be GREATLY appreciated that if you DO get it fixed...tell me what you did to fix it!!!!! thanks for the help

the sensor has a for the front is plugged behind the front bumper follow the wires and you should see it; I havent done anything as of yet but it works too damn good to screw with anything my light is on but I dont care At least I wont run into anything I have to change out my balljoints this weekend I may screw around with the sensors I will let you know

Just go buy 1 sensor and install, if it does not fix it, go buy another for the other side.
I HAD the same problem. Just replace sensors in front you will be OK.

I did and never had problem again
I guess it could be the ring but try the sensor first.

thanks...getting it fixed would be great...for now I found another fuse under the hood that runs JUST the abs pump...I pulled it and now the ABS is disabled...it will get me by untill I can get new sensors or something..thanks for the help!!!!
