ABS, headlights, tail lights ?????

93 ford ranger 4.0 4x4 manual
Tail lights, brake lights & dash light all quit same time. ABS blinks code 16 (OK)

Replaced headlight switch=no change
replaced multi-function (turn signal) switch =no change

Crazy thing is pull headlight switch 100% out like normal I ahave headlights but none of the 3 listed above. Push headlight switch in 1/4" to 3/8" I have tail and brake lights but NO headlights!


WHAT The $#^! is going on?
Has anyone had similar problems?

My 94 did the EXACT same thing!!!! A brake light wire had rubbed through and was shorting, popping the fuse.

Crazy thing is pull headlight switch 100% out like normal I ahave headlights but none of the 3 listed above. Push headlight switch in 1/4" to 3/8" I have tail and brake lights but NO headlights!

But it didnt do this, so IDK, I would check the fuses under your dash.

You have a short some where. Check your headlights and tail lights first for rubbed wires. Then take a multimeter to the 12V source, turn on your headlights, it should read 12V. Then do the same thing to the tails. Make sure the fuse is good first though.
 
not a fuse

fuses was my 1st ck. before parts. fuses are fine. all lights work in some fashion. I will start runnin down wires. thx. let you know what i find jimp
 
headlights quit now?

no bad fuses.
headlights work when pull for pass mode.
abs quit blinking
gettin worse HELP!

i scanned my truck w/ a handheld scanner... it almost killed the truck when i plugged it in and started flashing japanese and demonic lookin symbols... tried another vehicle and worked fine! moral of the story is any ranger owner should have a priest perform an exorcism on the truck before driving!!!
