abs and brake light

ok, so i was driving home tonight and i got on the brakes kinda hard. first my (parking) brake light came on, then my abs light came on. my brake light went away when i got off the brakes but the abs light stayed on. if i turn the truck off it goes away. i tried getting on the brakes again and it did the same thing. should any lights come on at all when i hit the brakes or is this something weird? any ideas?

Maybe it's low on brake fluid. Sometimes the low fluid switch is too sensitive.

When the fluid is low, do not simply top it off! You probably need new pads.

Ya always check pads before simply adding fluid. 1+ to Earl.

well my pads are brand new. i put all new pads and rotors on in the spring. i just never put brake fluid in because it never looked overly low. i topped of my fluids and tried multiple times, even got the abs to kick in once, and the lights never came on. easy fix. thanks guys
