I have a 83 ranger 4x4 manual with the 2.8l v6 the motor is bad but a buddy of mine has a 2.3l 4 cylinder that runs great out of the same year ranger my question is will it just bolt on to my existing transmission and can i just use the 2.3l motor mounts any help is apreciated thanks by the way both engines are carburated

IIRC, the transmission bolt patterns are different. 2.8L and 2.9L and 4.0L use the same pattern and 2.3L and 5.0L use a different bolt pattern.

The motor mounts from the 2.3L should fit on your Ranger.

thanks for the info can i just switch the bell housings?
