Hi Im John from Abbeville South Carolina. Currently own two Ford Rangers a 1997 xlt 4wd and a 2020 Ford Ranger XLT FX4. Love these trucks.

I'm doing the very same thing.

Sometimes I think the older generation Ford Rangers may be likened to model As. They were more functional than flashy, but they were loved. Millions were made. And when they finally retired to the junk yards and graveyards, a whole new generation came along, dug them up, and restored them, made them rat rods, hot rods and custom cars.

Ford Rangers don't last very long in junkyards here. They are stripped down fast. Most of the pullers are just regular people, hoping to keep theirs running another year or two. They don't share our vision, but they love their trucks just the same.

One of my relatives, a Ford exec, once said, "Why not just buy a new Ranger or even a Maverick? He's right in a way. They are very nice and well engineered. But what he misses is the vision, Those special few who hope to restore, preserve, and protect this unsung piece of automotive history. Who knows? They just might become some sort of classic just like the model A in years to come.
