aaaawwwwooooga horn?

i've got an old awooga horn hooked up to my b2. but it spools up real quick. and i'd like to slow it down a bit, more like an old firetrucks horn. how can i go about this? maybe a certain resistor or something?

Don't know really but you might try using a blower motor resistor in line and see if that works.

self grounding. 14G hot wire from the battery, inline fuse, push button switch

Most horns have an adjustment screw on them, maby a screw and lock-nut.

this is an original horn from the 30's, fyi. didn't see any screws for adjustment when i cleaned it up, but i wasn't looking for one then either..

if its from the 30's, it may be from a 6 volt system instead of 12. i know there are fancy little things for making 6v gauges work in a 12v car, not sure what they are called though

i have thought about this before, but i don't know what a 6v horn would do on a 12v system. and this one works just fine. i don't have a 6v battery to test the horn on either.

they have a motor in them, so a resistor will slow it down.
i would try an old dimmer for dash lights. adjust it and measure
with an ohm meter. it will take less power that way too.

i wonder if i could use a dimmer switch, mount it to the fender well and have it adjustable?! not that having it adjustable is a very useful tool, but would be kinda cool

I would think it would pull a fair amount of juice, that's why I suggested a ballast resister for heater blower. A smaller resister will probably melt.

Try looking for a potentiometer. Its pretty much like a dimmer switch
