so i have a 1989 ford ranger with a 2.9 and an a4ld. the 2.9 only has 20,000 on it. but i lost all the foward gears. being on a tight time constraint i didnt have time to teach myself how to rebuild it. i went to pick-a-part, bought a tranny from a ranger with a 2.9 as well, it was either an 89 ar 90 because the registration said it was first sold in 90. but, the bellhousing on my transmissionis nice and smooth, the bellhousing on the other has fins for streangth? and it has 2 extra bolt holes at the bottom of the bellhousing. the bolt holes on the bottem wouldnt allow us to get the tranny over the exhaust. can we swap bellhousings? and are there any tricks to getting an A4LD into place with as little
as possible?
