Hey I'm in the process of swapping in a 4x2 302/C6 combo out of a 1978 F150 into my 1989 4x2 2.9/A4LD Ranger XLT. I was just wondering if I can use the original speedometer drive gear that came with my truck in my C6 since on all the websites I've seen so far, it appears as if most Ford automatic tranny driven gears (with exception of the AOD) are all the same.

worst case scenario: you might have an 8 tooth gear (not very possible) gears are available online.

I'm guessing that the speedo cable housing ends are the same anyways

yeah well they look very similar. and with exception of the AOD, almost all of the websites just say "for ford automatic transmissions" when it comes to speedo driven gears. and besides, isn't an A4LD a c3 with overdrive? maybe ford wanted to keep some parts congruent throughout the "c" series of transmissions haha.
