What's up guys, I'm new here. First things first though, I would like to throw my transmission off a skyscraper. Haha, so the history is the previous owner told me it has a shift kit and that's it. I figured that might be why it does what it does but it can't be. It holds the shift from 1st to 2nd until 2700 rpms when it's hot and even longer when it's cold and shifts terribly hard. Shift from 2nd to 3rd is over 2500rpms also and jerks a little bit. My favorite of all the problems is it doesn't even try and go into overdrive haha. I'm getting like 12 mpg all around because of this stupidity... Anybody have any suggestions on how to fix it or what might be wrong? I'm gonna check the fluid tomorrow but that's about all I know to do at the moment haha. It seems like it's leaking so I figured that might be something. Let me know what you guys think!

What year is your ranger?

It sounds to me like, yeah, you should check the level but you should also make sure there's vacuum making it to you trans into the modulator.

There might be some adjustment to the shift cable since the shiftpoints might be off due to the shift kit. Don't quote me on that one though, I don't know how adjustable they are on these trucks...I'd look into it.
