:annoyed:well my buddy and i where going Wheeling a few weeks ago and is tranz went out. it a 93 explorer and lost all gears( didn't even have park it would just roll)
well we towed it home and then it worked again, only it will shift to 2nd by 5mph and by 10mph its in 3rd and stays there. won't go into od till 4,500 rpm no mater how hard you push the gas. doesn't down shift till a complete stop.

well we went later that day and pulled a new tranz form a different explorer and had a dealer re-build it.

installed the new re built tranz, with brand new converter in. and it dose the same thing:annoyed:

we checked for vacuum leaks, un plugged the small plug on tranz, tried 3 dif modulators, even swapped comps with my explorer, checked the kick down cable and nothing works:dunno:

anyone have something els we could try? we are so lost and frustrated with this thing we cant think.

thanks for any help:icon_cheers:

It's a long shot, but check the selector cable adjustment for damage from when you were wheeling. The lever on the trans snaps into each position, and a slipped or broken cable may not allow this.

A quick check would be to disconnect the cable at the trans lever and snap the lever into drive position by hand, then drive it and see if the trans shifts properly. Worth a try.

You blew up the transfer case and it's shifting between 4LO and neutral. The range fork is probably FUBAR. That's why you had no park.
