Okay, given the HUGE turn out I got on the broken Bronco....
The VSS gear is roached. The dealership can order in a replacement, but it will take about a week to get here. The speedo cable also fell apart at the metal end, but can be patched until spring when I can spend more time working on it.
So here's the issue. The vss is plugged in and put into the transfer case. There is no gear on it.
I need to drive this on the highway depending on weather. So my question is related to "Fooling" the system into allowing the transmission to use the TCC and the Overdrive gear.
Using the wiring diagram there is a method to kick 'on' the servo to the TCC. (It's in the tech section). I get that...it's possible.
The wire next to the TCC feed? Is the 4th gear/overdrive. Is it possible to do the same mod...and when I feel the truck should upshift out of 3rd into 4th...Just flip the switch and let the transmission do it's thing.
Basically just trying to bypass the computer control over the A4LD---and let the valve body do it's thing so I can use the truck on the highway.
I understand without the VSS it will have some headaches with decell and can have a strange effect on the IAC.
I just need to know exactly what 'Can' be done.....and what side effects, if any to expect.
Thanks
