A true bolt on

2003 ford ranger xlt 4.0. I want to buy a flowmaster super 10 cbe. Single in...dual outlet..pipes straight out to the back under the bumper. Which size inlet do I need so me and my buddy can install it ourselves...2.25 or 2.50?

Wondering the same! Looks like there are kits out there, but having never done any of this, not sure how simple of a swap it would be.

I put a Gibson cat-back kit on my Sport Trac when it was almost new. Very easy to install. Did have to scrounge up some shorter bolts and springs for the cat flange but otherwise it slid right on. They make a Ranger kit too. After 7 years the Gibson muffler rusted a hole so I installed a Flowmaster DBX on the Gibson pipes. They both sound nice but the Flowmaster is slightly quieter.

I woud take it to my muffeler guy and see what he recommends. You want the proper backpressure for effeciency and extend engine life? JMHO

I recommend going with a box kit no matter what, if something happens to it you can just pop in a new one.

SS if you have the $$.

Thanks all! I'm really liking the MagnaFlow SS kit. It really does look like a true bolt on. I'd love to go dual exhaust outlet, but even with these "kits", it looks iffy on the clearance around the tow bar. With no experience and bending and welding or even ever having done an exhaust before, I might opt for the traditional OEM side outlet. Still, really neat there are true bolt-ons. Thanks all!
