My ex-wife ran in to this when we were at an event in Cleveland. She went to the concession stand to get a soda. The woman working it argued with her that it's called pop.

Actually, it's soda pop.

Growing up In Ohio, we called it pop. When I moved south of there, it was called soda.

We were in Grand Cayman last year and my wife asked for a diet soda... the waitress looked at her like she had 2 heads and said "I'll see if we have it." She came back and said the bartender never heard of diet soda. They refer to seltzer water as "soda".


I ordered a Pepsi, I got a Pepsi.
