A Little Rim Work

...What a little work can do with a wire wheel. I was going to paint them black...but I might just clear coat them.

Several years ago I had some slotted mags sandblasted and powder coated. Turned out real nice. I tried the scuff and polish method... it just didn't work, I would have had a full day of sanding, smoothing and polishing per wheel.

Expensive but turned out great and the powder coat is real easy to keep clean too.
 
Now that they are stripped. That natural aluminum can be cleaned. I had some natural turbines that shined-up nice with ( https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/MCR1458 ) an acidic spray-on cleaner, no touch, just rinse. I hit them once every few months.

Paint, clear coat or otherwise will chip.

...I wonder how pure acetone would work on them instead of acid.
 
My aftermarket sawblades are bare aluminum, I just polish them once ever year or two with mothers.

They are for sure shinier after the polish but don't really look that bad scummed over. Hard to tell with gravel dust anyway.
