Last week I went to a estate auction and bought a 1986 Ranger diesel pick up. I have been driving it for a week and am impressd. I also bought a not running Isuzu diesel 4x4 Pup and extra engine and spent a total of $400. I love auctions.
Last year I bought a 1982 Mazda B2200 diesel. I live in Fairbanks Alaska . I drove it through one of the hardest winters I have seen in the 33 years I have lived here. It never let me down.
I now have 6 small diesel trucks. I recently bought a very clean 85 Toyota 4x4 with turbo diesel.I am rebuilding the engine . I hope to make this my winter truck.
I am looking forward to being part of this forum.

I'd love to get my hands on a Toyota Diesel 4x4 pickup.

Did they ever make the ranger diesel in a 4x4 configuration or were they all 2WD?

They did make a 4x4 diesel ranger. There is one here in town for sale. The guy bought it when it was almost new . It has a snow plow with tons of parts that include a couple of spare drive traines. He is asking $5000 for it . Seems a little high to me.. I looked at it a couple of years ago. He has not advertised it. I would like to have one of the engines for a spare.

Not bad but get rid of them 17 year old tires! Reccomended life of 6 years no matter how much tread or miles.

I will put a set of studded tires on the first of October. I ran into a previous owner today. He had put a new injection pump and glow plugs before he sold it in 06. I am getting 32 mpg around town. The best I get in my Mazda diesel is 28 mpg.

Drive it on the highway and give us a fuel economy number, 32mpg in town is damn good for a pickup.

I will . I am getting ready to go moose hunting and will take this truck if I get time to change the timing belt. I plan on driving it this winter. If any one is interested I will post photos of the 4x4 Ranger diesel a guy has for sale here in town.

I would be really interested in pictures, I've only seen a couple of diesel rangers that were 2WD, never seen a 4WD model.

I did find a 1984 Ford Ranger 4 cylinder the other day that was 4WD never knew they made a 4WD model with a 4 cylinder back then either.

I myself just picked up an 83 with the 2.2L diesel in it. Great little truck and runs stout... it had half tank of fuel and ive drove about 50 miles and the hand hasnt moved.. im gonna fill it up with fresh today and see how long it lasts... any thoughts on additives to put in it. I am gonna put some lucas in it cause we run it in all of our tractors and my dad puts it in his powerstroke.. thought it would be good to clean everything out in it.

I run power service in mine. I run the white bottle. It's been my understanding that running an additive with a fuel system lubricator (slick diesel) is important since these ran on the dirty diesel of the 80's. now thats its a more refined fuel theres little lubrication it provides and hence can wear out some parts.

did you find yours in tennessee?

if so was it the black one with the camo pin striping?

OP, looks like you took that pic at Creamers Field.
