A few strange 3.0 Questions

Hey guys,

I was just wondering if it is possible to make a points type distributor work on a 3.0...preferably something I could modify for maual advance. I have a chance to get a ranger with a vulcan as a project vehicle, and the first thing that needs to go is computer controlled anything. Fuel system won't be an issue...

I've been around these motors alot in stock form, but I am not quite sure what other parts will fit.

And yes, I know that they came with FI from the start.

I'd rather use a early lima, but I need more draft, and I know the 3.0 is pretty tolerant of abuse (Unlike the entire Cologne family).

Unless the vulcan dizzy is magically very close dimensionally to some other engine family's dizzy.....or if you know some machinist who doesn't mind doing a huge favor.


Thats one of the things wrong with the vulcan....it's essentially a bastard engine.

i would imagine you would only need to match the height of the distributor from the gear that drives the shaft of the distributor.. i would go to the 3.0 section of ranger power sports and pm boss 3.0
