A/C System questions

That is your transmission cooler! The AC condenser is the part directly behind that.

Feeling pretty dumb.
You'd think I'd be smarter. Sometimes I get impatient and ask questions before I take sh*t apart.
Where is that guy that said he "Asks all the dumb questions so you don't have to?"

Thanks.

I believe that we all have asked them well duh questions in the past. It happens even to the best of us. It is caused by the mouth moving quicker than the brain at times. :)

I did mine last year. Used a kit from rockauto.
I had never looked at a/c before this. Bought vacuum pump and manifold.
4.0 sohc took me about 4 hours
FYI I bought the GPD kit, compressor crapped out last week

That's good to know as that is the kit I'm looking at. I don't believe my compressor is bad, so I'm wrestling with buying individual parts vs the kit. Either way, I would still need to buy hoses, switches and the evap. At that point, what's another $150?

There are certain things that give my brain issues. Like all the different sensors - MAF, TPS, IAC or whatever that thing is that sits by the throttle body. I can't remember which ones are which. It gets so bad I've taken to labeling them.
The AC is another - 8 or 9 different components and some are called out differently - is it a condenser or a dryer? Or is it an accumulator or a dryer? And the refrigerant lines are another story altogether...:icon_confused::p

i never remember which is the condensor and which is the evaporator. i try to think about it logically and say the evaporator would be in the cabin since evaporation cools your body but i could be wrong
