on the 83 ranger i just bought the a/c clutch will not kick on unless i use a jumper wire then works . still no cold air. so is there a sight glass some place i haven't looked? or is the only way to check the freon is with gauges ? i'm guessing there is a low pressure switch that prevents the compresser from comming on if freon is low . any idea what it might cost to have it checked out ? also do i need to have the refrigerant changed over to the new stuff ? or can r12 ? still be used by a tech ?

It will have to be converted to r134a as it is illegal to sell R12 anymore.

Yea, the dealership i'm working at has a couple 30lbs tanks left as well. We don't sell it or use it on customers vehicles tho.
