At the risk of sounding like a moron, I can't get the A/C drive belt on a 1988 Ranger 2.9L V6 to detension. I loosened the two bolts (the hold down and the adjustable bolts up front on the bracket, but no go. What am I missing?

If I remember right, there are TWO pivot bolts, one on each bracket. They are in-line with one another, but are not connected, so you have to loosen both.

yep, on the back of the compressor there is another adjustment and another pivot bolt to loosen.
