Doing an engine swap on a new to me 2005 to replace my '96, haven't had a need for AC so its not going back in. Do I need to keep the electric fan? and did it come stock on non-Ac duratec models?
Yes, I believe all the 2002 and up 2.3l Duratec engines used electric radiator fans
AC delete shouldn't effect that, Computer would activate E-fan Relay if AC was on but that was an over ride ON, engine/head temp sensors should still work fine to turn it on and off
So with no AC it would be like never turning it on, although you still could on the dash controls, lol.
So without factory AC there's no electric fan? Have a mechanical fan but trying to free up space and wasn't sure if the Efan was only for when the as is on.
Electric fan on the front side of radiator was for AC Condenser, condenser and fan should be removed, if AC is deleted.
You can install a Taurus or other model electric radiator fan and remove your mechanical fan, if you have a mechanical fan as stock.
You would need to install coolant temp sensor and relays for e-fan operation since stock wiring wouldn't have that if vehicle came with mechanical fan
