A/C compressor won't come on

I have a 94 ranger and the a/c quit blowing cool air. the clutch was running and I put Freon and it was cool for one day. Now the A/C clutch is not coming on. The compressor is only 18 months old. I checked the a/c 10 amp fuse and it is not blown. Any suggestions before I take it in and they tell me the compressor is no good.

check your ac pressures, if its not to proper level it will not let the compressor turn on

Well, it was running and I put 2 cans of freon in it and the next day the compressor was not running, so I was wondering if there is a fuse besides the 10 amp ac fuse somewhere else.

did you use a gauge set when you refilled it or justthe hose and can?

ya what F.O.R. said did you use a gauge set when you added it could be overcharged too

The can had a built it gage, it was in the safe mode after filling with freon.

ohhh lord one of those. You cannot properly fill a a/c system with just a can or even gauges. It could still be underfilled or overfilled, you need to get it evac and recharge with a machine that measures the wieght
