A/c compressor replacement questions

Alrighty I'm replacing the a/c compressor and was wondering how much oil goes into the replacement compressor and of which type? Pag, etc. any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

The instructions in the box tell you

Assume it's a dry compressor with no instructions, 2003 4.0L sohc.

9 oz. Motocraft PAG refrig compressor oil YN- 12- D

The correct way, as far as I know, is to drain the oil from the old compressor, measure it, then add an equal amount of NEW oil plus 2 oz. 2003 takes PAG oil.
