A/C Compressor always run's.

Greetings. I having a problem with the A/C compressor the only time it dosent operate is when the selector switch is off. I thought it should only operate is when you've selected A/C but it runs when I've slected floor, defrost, etc. Thanks for the help.

It should not operate when selector switch is turned to the left one position from off-air to dash vents only,and to the right two positions from off-air to floor vents only.

compressor is supposed to run when the defroster is on.
