Hi guys. I have been having sort of a bad time about my wife's Dad lately. A few weeks ago, he started doing strange things and his speech became somewhat slurred. Last weekend, my 2 brothers in law and I took him on a fishing trip to celebrate fathers day. He had a mini stroke just prior to the trip but he was in good spirits and was mobile enough to be able to fish and camp. Upon our return, he was to go into the hospital to have some surgery performed. The doctor immediately told him that surgery was out of the question because he had just had a stroke. They did a scan and found he has a large and agressive tumour on his brain. They aren't sure they can get without irreversible damage to all functions. He is losing function every day. This is just very difficult to watch. Here's the man who was always up for a good hunting/fishing trip or for home renovating parties withering away. My wife is completely distraught over this. She has had to take over paying bills for them (mother in law has never paid their bills) after discovering that all their accounts are overdrawn and the bills weren't getting paid. The very worst thing that is happening is that my oldest brother in law is trying to "save" them by booking boat trips on their boat and putting pressure on my mother in law to buy a new motor for the boat. It pisses me off that he doesn't do anything but leach off of them and now he's asking for more and just making a bad situation worse. He stopped working at about 30 and he's like 45 now. If things don't improve with my father in law, he's going to cause a major family rift. This is so frustrating.

Thanks for letting me vent

Phil

That brother in law must have voted for the raghead- out of money, so let's spend some more...

Sorry to hear about this, it was great he got to go on that last fishing trip. His days may go pretty quickly, a lot of times those tumors work fast. Bad times... Sounds like prayer is the best option here. You have my condolences. I wish the best for you and the family.

i know ther is nothing i can do. but i will be praying for you and the family

Come on guys. This guy is talking about something real and painful and we still get a ****ing Obama reference out of it? Get off your soapbox. And also, how about you ditch the racial slurs in this guys serious thread? Bigot

My FIL had two brain tumors. Both removed after they figured out the plan of attack. Don't be too down about it yet.
As far as the brother-in-law, it's best to stay out of those situations until someone other than your wife invites you to deal with it. Many times family feuds get much worse when an outsider gets in the middle. No matter how accepted someone is inside a family, they can always be back to "outsider" when the feuding starts.

Phil I'll say a prayer for him and all the family.
Be there for the wife and the boy and help them thru all of this like they helped you.

.

Nope. We're Canadians. I don't think he votes anyway. Just stands there waiting for a handout. Don't get me wrong here, I love the guy. He's really good with his hands and has always been a good teacher to me, but he's socially retarded. He gave my wife a hard time when she bought her truck. He is always waiting for someone to just give him something. Little does he realize that we work damn hard to have what we have. He had the nerve to ask me to give him my 85 and I could use his Windstar (which was given to him by the inlaws). He was serious! I just told him to go fly a kite.

Holy CRAP Phil!!!

You know if you need me there for a while I can be there in a couple of hours (more if I juice the diesel up to the 100HP+ tune, LOL).

It is really tough. My FIL had a tumor, non-cancerous, that grew VERY fast. Luckily it was outside the dura so it did not grow into the brain itself just put a lot of pressure on it. He had it removed successfully and is pretty much back to normal now some years later.

My BIL on the other hand is the same sort of mooch, as is my older brother come to think of it. LOL

Hang in there, I'll give you a call later on today.

Sorry to hear about this man...
A good friend of mine is still recovering from his removal...

His was really bad!
He is 25 and the tumor was tangled into his spinal cord

But they got it and hes still with us today...
with all functions!
So have faith and take care of that brother in law!

sorry to here it man. i lost my mother 15 months ago for the same thing, and 5 years ago i lost my mother iun law to alzhiemers. our prayers are with you.

With a muzzle or a shotgun?

LOL, yeah I know how frustrating the in-laws can be. When there is nothing we can do about a situation, sometimes it's best to step aside and let God work. I have faith that your Father in-law is in very capable hands. May he be blessed with the "peace that passes all understanding," in this life as well as the next.

Your Father in-law and family are in our thoughts and prayers.

+1 with Jason. i will put ya'll in my prayers.

P.S., guns are to quick, stun gun, tie to tree in deep woods, spread honey/ syrup all over skin and let the animals take care.

P.S.S. humor can help with all situations if you let it.

HAHA!

Tell em your gonna take em to vegas... Hogtie him to a cactus
And let the Buzzards at em! then its not all on you haha... and even if he escapes thats 1 nasty sunburn...

But i wish you the best of luck with the bigger problem:icon_thumby:

I'm thinking of something along the lines of a bark collar. Everytime he says something stupid, he gets a shock. Humour does help. It's just a little tough to laugh when he's going downhill so fast.
