I got a 99 ranger with a 3.0 and i noticed today that the rear wheels have completly locked up when in 4x4. The only thing i can think of was that it was snowing hard the night before and maybe something froze up. They wheels started moving after a little while but it still makes me concerned on whats going on.

A lot of times if you use the e-brake it will freeze and not want to release.

Did you try it in 2WD, and everything worked, or are you just assuming since you are using 4WD, that is causing it.

I have even had my old ranger (2001) lockup without using the e-brake. I would have to goose the throttle and then they would pop loose and be fine.
