99 ranger locked in lo lock

i haved had trouble for a while.sometimes wont lock in at all lights flash.then it might work the next 10 times.now it is in lo lock and wont come out.any help thanks

Look through the tech section for a write up on the shift motor diagnostics as that is likely your problem. To get the truck out of 4 lo you need to remove the shift motor from the transfer case and manually turn the shaft with a pair of pliers to get to 2 hi if all else fails.

If your stuck in low lock then reverse the truck 4 ft to relieve driveline stresses and then try to shift out. If that dont work, come to a complete stop and put it in neutral press the brake, turn teh truck off and then back on and then shift out of 4 lo. Then begin diagnostics according to tech library.
