Need an oil filter housing bolt for my 99 4.0l ohv and they don't make it anymore.....does the housing and bolt from a sohc engine work on the ohv engine? I need this asap! I can find the sohc one all day long but mine is only for years 98-99. The 10 mm bolt stripped out and had to cut it off. it wouldn't budge!!

have you checked the hardware store? Lowes, TSC, Meanards, etc., all have metric fasteners in bulk

This is not a basic fastener it kind of resembles a large banjo banjo bolt with two o-rings and holes and is hollow in the middle to allow the oil to flow through it.

Do a Google search for 10mm banjo bolt. The results are simply AMAZING.

Nope. Wrong....it is not a 10mm banjo bolt. it is specific to this housing....I just want to know if the housing and bolt from a sohc 4.0l will work......and yes I have googled the crap out of this and no straight answer..they look very similar....

Looks like this but with an internal 10 mm allen. My housing and bolt are specific to 98-99 year ohv engines. I just need to know if the housing and bolt from a sohc will work on the ohv engine.. someone must know ...

If you take a whole housing unit and bolt from a SOHC it should work (I'm like 99% sure). I was going to do this myself, just never got to it.

Just keep in mind that if you go with a late enough housing you will have to start using the FL820 (or equivalent) filter, over the FL-1A (or equivalent).

One thing you could try is go to the Ford dealership have them break out the part and either buy it or get a good look at it, that way you can see if it'll work for you.

Nobody is going to have that in stock.

I know the mating surfaces of the housings are the same, as well as the oil passages. The only thing I was unsure of was the threads on the bolt to the block.

This is suggestion for any odd OEM part, go to your busiest local wrecking yard on Monday morning early - if you can't make that the last hour of business Sat or Sun ... the masses of Saturday people take all sorts of things apart and leave them laying while getting to their part. With a little luck, one or more trucks like yours has been partially disassembled. This keeps you from having to take the entire front engine apart to get at a timing cover for instance or the motor may be out because they wanted ??something?? That makes getting a to and oil mount bolt easier to access too, if that is what you want. I make it a practice to pick up all the discarded bolts and add them to my collection too. That is BTW the only way I found the bolt you are talking about for my '99. Good luck.
