Help with Ford 4x4

So i feel like i have read a million posts on how to fix 4x4. My truck will engage into 4x4 at some times and sometimes it won't. Same with getting it out of 4x4. I was told that it is probably something with the wiring in the module that relays the signal from the dash to the transfer case. I was also told this is a expensive fix. I am not sure what it was called egb or something along those lines... I am wondering if I put in AMV Hubs if i will need the dash switch or if i will still have the same problem... Any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks again

i will also say i have the vacuum hubs that are so kind from what i hear. thanks again

it sounds to me like you have a vacume leak. the other thing is that you might have corosion in the conector on the transfer case. when the transfer case motors quit working it is very rare that they start to work again.
