I'm looking at a 99 Explorer and the seller said that it does have an issue with the transmission. She said:
its giving me a few troubles.. slips a little bit.. i talked to a mechanic in town and he says the tranny needs to be flushed and something about a pc somethign .. i dont know im not a mechanic but it does need some work
Does anyone know what she's talking about? How bad of a fix could it be? Explorer has around 245,000 km. Price is decent ($1500) and just wondering if it's worth it with the tranny issue.

The explorer is a great truck but I would say keep looking just due to the fact it has tranny issues. Avoid them and save yourself the hassle. Good luck with your search!

a good portion of the Explorer's I've looked at have some tranny issue. The question for me is what's fixable and what should I walk away from? the vehicle is only $1500, which i suspect is because of the tranny. But, is it going to be a brutal repair costs?

The pc something is probably a pcm recalibration. It is rare to find anyone other than a dealership with that capability. the flush is always a good idea on high milage buys.

Cost me about 500.00 to rebuild my A4ld, overdrive sun gear took a dump.
