Hello

I found there were more ranger v8 swaps than explorers so I figured i'd give this site a try.

I am looking through the different posts here, but am trying to get my swap off the ground with a manual trans choice.

t-5 sounds short lived under a 4000# explorer
t-56 is ideal, but not in budget at this time
m5od-r2 sounds like an easy way out, more of the same from my r1 that is running now, but has an issue with the shifter location being too far forward?

Anyway ill do some searching, but it seems hard to find anything with the r1 and r2 side by side for comparison. any help is appreciated!

The '97 and up M5OD-R2 from Ford F-150 with V6(4.2l) has the small block windsor bolt pattern(302/5.0l), and the shifter is back farther than the '96 and earlier manuals, these came in 2WD and 4WD models.

EDIT: found some pictures
Google: bishop engine 1993 m5od-r2

And then in another tab Google: bishop engine 2000 m5od-r2

You will see the difference in shifter locations
2WD or 4WD is just different tail shaft housing, but you do need 2WD version
