99 E-150 Doesn't always go into reverse

I have the above van that sometimes won't go in reverse. It can work fine, with solid engagement. Other times, it bogs the engine like it's in gear, but will only rev and not move. Leaking servo? Any ideas? Thanks

Always start with first things first. Get the truck warm, go around the block, park it level and check the fluid with the truck running in park. Then we can go from there. It doesn't SOUND like a low fluid symptom, but it never hurts to check the basics.

It was having the reverse trouble and my wife took it to a tranny shop. They changed filter and fluids, so I checked it later. Level is fine. I've read the servo could be the problem. Every other shift is excellent. If we give it a push, it will go in reverse, like it needs to be coaxed. That's got me thinking it's a servo.

How long have you waited for it to shift? sometimes my Bronco II would take 20 or more seconds especially when cold, just for reverse to engage.
