last week i installed a ford 8.8'' with currie 11x 2 1/4 drum brakes, helped my braking times 10.but now i want to upgrade the front to a 99 f150 rotor. is there a company that makes bearing to adapt the 150 rotors to my ranger spindle? or will i have to do what i did with a bug. cut the f150 spindle off, mill it flat, cut of my ranger spindle, weld the f150 spindle in place, then drill down and tap for a 1 1/2 long grade 12 bolt for extra protection?

if anyone needs to know how to do a brake upgrade on a 99 ranger its really easy. just buy new inner and outer bearings for a 99 ranger and a 99 f150, for the outer bearing use the ranger bearing and put the f150 race on,done for outer. for the inner bearing use the ranger bearing and the f150 race, install the f150 seal and rotor, make a plate to hold the f150 caliper,or aftermarket caliper, bleed ur breaks, and wa la shes done.

You should do a full write up of this for the Tech Section. This sounds like a very promising modification. I suggest you write it up formally and send it to Jim Oaks, he's always looking for new stuff to add to the Tech Library.

Let me get this straight. You propose WELDING a SPINDLE?

Even with a bolt for extra protection, I really don't want to be anywhere near where you drive. Which sucks ass, since I need to go through Mojave periodically. Like Thursday. That's a DEATHTRAP.

A single bolt can back out (on one side by braking, on the other by accelerating in 4WD). A single HARD bolt can shatter. Don't drive this thing. Please.

It's things like this that make me wish California had a safety inspection program.

it was on a bug for a friend of mine and he mostly drives the dirt. but if u know what ur doing and know how to get a good strong weld like me its safe, he has had it for a year and off roads the shit out of it and no problems, in fact he just sent his spindles i to check for cracks and there was none.
i found the bearing way of making this work so theres no need of cutting spindles.

yea i will wright to jim and let im know thanks

ok i have 1000 miles on the brake upgrade and decided to take the system apart to see how she looked inside. the outer bearing looks great and no extreme wear looked brand new still ,hell yes, but the inner bearing was junk.i then realized that the f150 race is not long enough for the bearing and formed a lip on the roller bearings, damn. i will do further inspection to see if i can find a simple solution.
