I ordered a set of leaf spring helpers from JC whitney only to find out that they don't fit my 99 b3000. My axle is under the springs, but these are made for over-axle springs.

How can I stiffen up the springs for pulling heavy trailer loads? Does anyone make helper springs for under-axle rear ends?

thanks!

or air bags. I think bags have more capacity than shocks, but not positive.

Air shocks are depended on the shock mounts on the frame being strong enough to take on the extra weight you will forcing on them. I have seen ranger frames crack all around the upper rear shock mounts just from having too short or long of a shock on it, I wouldn't want to trust it to take on more weight load.

I would either go with Air helper springs from Air-Lift or Firestone Ride Rite. You could also install an add a leaf to stiffen up the rear springs a bit.

Excellent rear spring suspension enhancment kit

I just installed some spring helpers. I like the product Timbren has. It's similar to the Firestone product. They were super easy to install without any frame drilling, cutting, welding, or other such modifications. Timbren uses a rubber spring similar to an air bag but without all the leak issues. The install was just 3 bolts on each side and it fits where the existing rubber stop on your truck went. It couldn't have been easier. The price was reasonable too at <$300. Plus the customer support was great. They shipped me another set of rubber springs free of charge when the ones the kit came with didn't fit optimally under my 13 year old sagging leaf springs.
