i just bought a 99 ranger from my buddy as a crutch til i get a new truck. 4x4 does not work i have changed the hubs and still nothing i thought maybe could be the vacuum lines soi changed them. still nothing i even went and ran the lines straight from the motor to the hubs and once again nothjng. if any one can help would be greatly appreciated. even if someone has done somthing to rig them to work ill take anything right about now thanks!!!

Could it be the tcase motor? My '99 4wd doesn't work either, so I took off the motor, turned it with pliers, and it shifted fine, so it wasn't my tcase. Do your 4hi and 4low lights blink?

You could swap in a manual tcase, its probably the case motor. Do you hear a clicking or anything when you turn the knob to 4x4.

so i found the link on tech library to fix it it was the hubs. what happens to the hubs is the slide splines behind the hub freeze up and since the vacuum pulse does have a lot of pull to it, it will not push all the splines together. but i did have a truck come into the junk yard i work at that had the manual hubs on it. they are made by rugged ridge incase no one wants to rig their hubs and do it the right way. the hubs are for 98- 00 rangers:icon_thumby:
