Hi guys..so I think my head gaskets blown.. While I have my heads off I'd like to put 302 rockers in and clean up theU ports a little. How would I go about putting 302 rockers on instead?

a 302 is a SAE design and a 3.0 is metric, so it's not as easy as you think..... do a little searching and you'll see what I mean.

Ok thanks.. Just wondering though.. Can anyone tell me if I'm right to assume that my head gaskets are gone.. To begin I had flushed the antifreeze and changed the thermostat when I first put the truck on the road at the beginning of summer.. Now it is a very dark merky green color, and slowly bubbles come into the overflow bottle as it idles. If I rev the motor the bubbles seem to slow down.. Since winter has hit the temperature has fluctuated to overheating for about 5 seconds and drops to cold before I can even react, then slowly creeps to the middle again.. Also for the last 2 week it seems to take 2 or 3 more cranks to start even though it's getting warmer out... Im only guessing on a head gasket leak or cracked head.. Can someone try and steer me In the right direction if I'm wrong..

Thanks Dylan

Oil looks normal.. I've tried doing a compression test but 2 of my compression testers won't fit through the exhaust manifold so I can't do a test on that.. And as for checking for exhaust gas in a/f.. How do I do that?

Ok so I'm planning on doing the head gaskets next weekend.. I would like to have it done by next weekend as well.. Is there anything I should watch for or be careful with? As for exhaust how should I go about taking it off? I was planing on cutting the bolts at the bottom of the manifold.. The injectors should just come out right? As for the valve is there anything special with them.. Or just make sure there sitting proper? Are there any special tools I should try to obtain as well? And how important is getting the heads checked?

Thanks dylan

One important thing to remember is that the head bolts are "one-time-use" torque to yield bolts. Do no try to reuse them, just get new ones. And be sure you have the proper torqueing procedure for your year 3.0.
