I have a 99 Ranger with a 3.0 that will not start unless I put a little gas in the throttle body. It has spark and fuel pressure. New fuel pump, crank sensor and cam sensor. When testing the injectors with a noid light while cranking there is no indication. But like I said if I put a little gas in it it will run until I cut it off. Then it only cranks over again. This is driving me crazy. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So you have no injector action. Check power to the injectors.

Yes, each injectors should have 12volts when key is on, computer Grounds each injector to open it.

When key is turned on the EEC relay(engine power box) closes and sends power from a 30amp fuse(engine power box) to the injectors, computer and a few other devices.
On a '99 Coil is powered separately.

So blown fuse or EEC(PCM) relay issue could be the problem

I can put a test light on it and it indicates that it has power. Am I going about that the wrong way?

ok, lets clarify this again, if you put fuel in the intake it will run until you turn it off. is that correct?

Check that they actually get 12v, not just "power".

Pull those fuses and check continuity through them (blown fuse will have infinite ohms)

Check your engine/chassis ground strap for excessive corrosion.

Yes if I put just a little bit of gas in the throttle body it will run until I cut it off. I let it run for about five minutes. Tried to start it after that and it just turns over.

It seems like if they weren't getting power it wouldn't run when I put gas in it. But like I said it wont noid.

Sounds like you are not getting power during the start position of the ignition switch. try turning the ignition switch to the run position and then short the starter solenoid to spin the motor, see if it starts that way. post what happens.

^This^.

If it kicks over like that pull the column apart and inspect the ignition switch. They have a habit of burning up. Usually kills things on the start pins.

If what Martin said gets it running, unhook the small wire at the fender mounted solenoid and have someone hold the key in start while you check for power at the injector connector. This way, the engine won't crank and you can verify what you do and don't have.

Also, try connecting your noid in the opposite direction. Some use an LED and will only work one way.
