'99 2.5l exhaust

I'm running 2.5" from the y pipe to a fully welded flowmaster knock off , it's 13" long
And it sounds pretty damn good, it's a little on the louder side but idling with the windows closed I can only hear a faint drone of the exhaust but that's in my b2 if you run the exhaust straight out the back in a ranger, being a longer truck I'd doubt you'd hear it at all..

2.5" was ideal for me in my 4.0 but that's a v6 a 4 banger I'd prolly go 2" jmo
Good luck if you want a video of how mine sounds I can get you a link

Keep the cat it doesn't hurt a thing.

My 2.5" pipe was good(read: small increase in power below 3,500; medium above 3500) for performance but resonates really loudly.

I'd say 2" is appropriate, or 1.75"

On a 4 banger I would use 2.25", stock is 2" I think. Gibson makes a cat-back system for Rangers, on my V6 Sport Trac it sounds good. I like Magnaflow also. It is against Federal law to remove the cat, I don't care what your state law says or if you have to have smog testing.
