Over the winter the ABS light on my 99, 2.5L, Manual everything, Ranger started coming on intermittently. Seemed to be mostly on cold starts (this winter in Minnesota was a particularly brutal one) but it's almost consistently on now. Except when I go in to try and pull a code...
To the best of my knowledge this truck never had ABS so I'm at a loss. Any suggestions?

Maybe it is the indicator for all brake problems. Your emergency brake could be sticky, the fluid level low in the reservoir, etc, and they saved $ by using the ABS light as the generic brake problem light... Or not.
I would take a look at the owners manual for the problem being reported. Are you sure you do not have rear wheel ABS? Some had that, even the low end models.
Take a look at the fuses to see if there is one installed, you may be surprised.

Those seem like legitimate possibilities. I know the PO replaced the emergency brake and didn't do a great job of it, also just yesterday I started hearing some noise out of the front passenger brake indicating it's probably time for new pads/rotors. I thought I'd checked the manual and didn't find anything useful but I'll double check. Thanks for the help!
