just picked up the 5th wheel bearing for my 98 ranger in less than a year all of which have worn out in 5 to 10k miles:annoyed:. I was told by the parts store today they have had many people having the same problem and it is due to over torquing the three bolts holding it on. I have been searching the web for a while now and cant seem to find any torque specs on these bolts does anyone happen to know what they are? i wold like to make this the last bearing i need to install any input would be greatly appreciated

What are you running for Tires and Rims? Offset Rims an oversized tires are killer to those bearings

What kind of bearings are they? Cheapos?

im running the stock 16 inch rims and im guessing the tires arent much if any bigger than stock probably 29's and i dont believe they are cheap ones they are costing me $205 a piece ive also heard that when the seal goes out on the vacuum hub system it will let water and sand get inside the bearing could this be true?

i think there is a seal behind the hub, maybe it needs replaced??? Im not sure but i have heard mention of it, maybe someone with more knowledge will let you know

Is the hub all warn out? If the baring is really sloppy in the hub that can couse it to go bad fast.
