I recently purchased a 1998 ford ranger, has a 2.5 4 cylinder with auto trans (believe its the 4r44e) ... so when I first bought it, it had some semi-hard shifting amongst 1st to 2nd & from park to reverse/drive... Now It seems that when I place it in drive, it does not start off in 1st gear, it feels as if its in 2nd gear; (however when I place it in 1/low It seems to work as normal and i could place it in 2nd and go from there?) I also notice from Park/Drive to reverse is very hard/rough... Anyone have any ideas on a fix or the problem??

Now it may not have any coinicidence but today I used seafoam through the brake booster line (and did it as the bottle stated) and cleaned the mass air flow sensor, it seemed right after this, the trans trouble began...
