Can the '98+ one-piece rear driveshafts be extended 2-3/8" safey? Is there enough slip yoke for this? It's primarily a street truck, so very little articulation.
Did U-joints on mine today and it extended out maybe a half inch and stopped. Wasnt about to cut the clamps off the boot to have a look see either so I dont know what is restricting it.
IMHO, I wouldnt feel comfortable with the stock shaft extended out that far being as it is not made to do so. Maybe you can call spicer and have them make up a longer slip yoke for ya?
Well the lift isn't really the concern. My truck is SASed with full width axles and a '98+ driveshaft would have to extend out 2-3/8" in order to fit. Looks like I might be into a custom shaft here.
I went to Pat's Driveline in Mississauga today. The guy looked through his books and the '98+ ranger shafts have 3.5" of travel in the slip. Not near what I need. He's making me a custom 3.5" shaft to the right length and the slip yoke will have 9" of travel. It's a full spline slipyoke. All Spicer components. It will be done on Tuesday evening hopefully and then I can get back to driving and modding instead of fixing I will post pics of the shaft and results afterwards. If it's anything like the shafts I saw them pass over the counter to customers, then I'll be happy.
