low and behold found a local 98 4.0 4wd 5 spd, that's being parted out. 4.0 being 4.0 V6. would we just encounter any problems with the newer engine harness? This drive line has half the mileage my 4.0 has on it..

From what I hear, your '93 is OBD 1, The '98 will be OBD 2 so the engine management and the harness is different . The long blocks are the same,so you use the '93 eng mgmt stuff. Best of luck :D

There is a world of difference between the "drive line" in a 93 and a 98. There are a lot of mechanical parts that are the same and a bunch that are not. The engine is mostly the same. The long block is just about exactly the same. Trans may or may not be the same, you can research that. The electronics are totally different. The emission controls will be very different. So basically, you can use the engine with most of the parts off yours and maybe the transmission. The rest will be mostly different.

This is extremely doable.

There are minor differences in the engines, nothing insurmountable. There is also the question of the speedo, made a non-issue by the fact that your truck is 4x4, so your speedo cable goes into the T-case.

I'd say do it.

M50D should be the same up to 2000 if the tech section is right.

Drive line, Yes we would switch the 93 harness and electronics onto the newer engine, should I actually take the engine with the part out.

For sure I want the; starter, block plate, trans, shifter, bezel right? Should we clip off the any of the wiring parts? I do have a source for all the "small stuff "

Thanks ASM.. so I don't want or need the newer T-case?

Got my mech and we are going to check out this parts truck for the driveline today! (have a good feeling about this one with 62,000 on the od)

We are picking it up next week, engine transmission and t case! $550! Will probably sell the tcase since it does not have the speedometer connection

Should I snag the pedal assembly? Think I have to get one unique to my 93, but please advise. Thanks in advance!
